History
Natasha Romanoff is an agent for S.H.I.E.L.D - Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division - working under Nick Fury. She is sent to work undercover and gain a position as Tony Stark's new Personal Assistant once Pepper Potts is promoted to CEO and Chairman of Stark Industries. She doesn't reveal her true intentions to Tony until he meets with Nick Fury, and is made known of S.H.I.E.L.D's further interest in him.

Natasha doesn't need any special powers to carry out her job, just her unrivalled skill in martial arts, and dedication to her job. She started very young as a spy and assassin, the Russian government unmaking her to create something new, something deadly. For a long time she didn't care who she killed or why, the blood on her hands something she could live with. When S.H.I.E.L.D sent Clint Barton after the Black Widow to eliminate her, he made a very different call and now she owes him a debt. One that has given both agents a close bond that's untouchable.

By nature she is a loner, one focused on righting the wrongs. She might not admit to it readily, but there is a part of her that seeks redemption and wants to do good for all the lives she's taken. She has long ago accepted that she has a very specific skill set, one not useful for anything else but her current work as an agent and member of the Avengers. She will do anything to complete an assignment whether that means deception and playing the part of someone else, using her knowledge of weapons or being persuasive with words alone.

As of the events in Avengers: Age of Ultron, it's clear that graduating from the Red Room means sterilisation. As such Natasha can never have children of her own, and doesn't seek a family life. She dotes on the Barton children and clearly does still want companionship of some kind. Even if it never means the standard defition of family.

Note: Due to the events of Captain America: Civil War some aspects of this character's current canon have changed. Let me know if you're avoiding spoilers.
